"The Land Remembers" journeys to Thorndale on the edge of Greater Kruger, South Africa, where Abundant Village is reimagining what protection really means. From rhino dehorning and snare removals in the Manyeleti to school food gardens, hempcrete/rammed-earth builds, after-school mentorship, indigenous knowledge, and mental wellness, this film asks a harder question: How do we stop poaching before it begins? And how do we heal people so it never has to start?
This is a story of reconnection: of young leaders rising, rangers and villagers working shoulder to shoulder, and a community choosing dignity, responsibility, and regeneration. It’s about healing people and land at the same time… and what becomes possible when we do.

A hempcrete kitchen is now serving nearly 70,000 meals annually using clean stoves that eliminate 100% of smoke — protecting women and children from a leading cause of death in sub-Saharan Africa.
Four food gardens now feed students and teachers every day — with extra harvest sold to fund school sanitation and a growing chicken coop.
A free-range chicken coop gives kids fresh eggs every Friday.
A walking labyrinth was created as a peaceful space for grounding and emotional wellness.
Four fully refurbished classrooms are now powered by electricity.

We’re back and the energy is powerful. Our interns have shown up with heart, vision, and drive. Led by the Abundant Village team, they’ve completed their boot camps, absorbed the learnings, and are stepping forward as true community champions. This isn’t just a program. It’s a movement.
